New Ministers in Wales introduce direction for education and skills

Following the change of government in Wales, the new Ministers have published a letter setting out the direction for education and skills.

Anna Brychan is the new Cabinet Minister for Education and the Welsh Language, while Cefin Campbell is the Deputy Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education. Cefin kindly sponsored the CDI’s Valuing Careers launch by the Senedd in 2025, and we wrote to congratulate him on his appointment.

In the letter they set out that their aims are to raise standards, particularly strengthening literacy and numeracy, supporting the education workforce, supporting wellbeing, attendance and behaviour, strengthening post-16 skills and education and developing a learning nation, including an expansion of Welsh-medium education.
