Influence of careers guidance on students in Nigeria
A study has been published exploring the influence of career guidance on secondary school students in Onitsha Education Zone, Nigeria.
It looked at the impact on students’ career aspirations given concerns that many find it challenging to make relevant career choices due to barriers and lack of access to careers support.
The study was based on a descriptive survey research design and involved a sample of 200 students from nearly 5,000 students in 27 schools across the zone.
The study found that career counselling, career information and career guidance significantly influenced their career aspirations.
The findings are being sued to encourage schools to offer greater careers guidance services.
