Increased take-up of vocational and technical qualifications in Scottish schools
Education Secretary Jenny Gilruth championed the success of the Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) as a record number of technical and vocational qualifications were awarded for the first time in Scotland.
These qualifications, described by the Scottish Qualifications Authority as ‘the skills-based awards that unlock training and career opportunities’, are part of what Ms Gilruth called ‘an explosion in qualifications’ such as the National Progression Awards and the success of creating different pathways for young people.
