Free ESAT preparation for applying to top universities
The ESAT (Engineering and Science Admissions Test) is now required by Imperial, University College London, Oxford and Cambridge universities, for courses that range from engineering and physics to natural sciences and veterinary medicine. Applicants to Oxford and Cambridge sit the ESAT in October, while applicants to Imperial and UCL can also sit it in January.
Lucas Rey, a doctoral researcher in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and a Cambridge graduate, has published free ESAT preparation resources, including mock papers for all five modules, with a worked solution for every question that names the mistake behind each wrong option, plus mark schemes, answer sheets and invigilator instructions, so a school can run a timed mock without a subject specialist.
The material draws on Lucas’ experience preparing students for the ESAT and other admissions tests, both one to one and through UK admissions consultancies, and on workshops he runs with schools in the UK and abroad. The questions are original, written to the specification and format that UAT-UK publishes for the test, and none are reproduced from past papers. Additional resources are added each year.
