First meeting for new DfE/DWP Careers Policy and Delivery Forum

On Wednesday 25th February, the Department for Education (DfE) and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) hosted the first meeting of the new Careers Policy and Delivery Forum (CPDF).

The aim of the CPDF is to facilitate engagement between the two Government departments responsible for careers guidance for young people and adults, and representatives of the career development profession and wider ecosystem.

The CDI were represented at the meeting by Chief Executive David Morgan, alongside other key organisations. The first meeting agreed the terms of reference and the behaviours to enable the group to have open yet safe discussions.

As well as providing an update on current policy developments, the main focus of the CPDF is to bring in the voices of the career development sector as Government develops, designs and implements policy. Meetings will focus on key strategic topics, gathering independent insight from attendees and allowing exploration of approaches.

The creation of the Forum, and in particular the joint hosting by DfE and DWP, is very welcome to help align careers provision across young people and adults, provide an opportunity to test Government thinking and help ensure policy changes have the greatest impact.
