Clearer pathways into apprenticeships promised
Ahead of National Apprenticeship Week, the UK Government announced plans to improve pathways to apprenticeships and to fast track reforms.
With a promise to ‘unlock opportunities for young people across the country’, the Government announced a new online platform to bring together information on apprenticeships, including earnings data and progression. This will be delivered alongside the pilot of a clearance-style system that will match unsuccessful apprenticeship candidates with similar opportunities.

In a separate announcement, the Government set out plans to speed up the approval process to update apprenticeships and add short courses. The aim is to reduce the current 18-month period to approve apprenticeships down to as little as three months.
This reduction in approval time is intended to make apprenticeships more responsive to the needs of employers as industries undergo change.
