CDI President, Ryan Gibson, steps down

CDI President, Ryan Gibson, has stepped down from his role as President, Chair of the Board and Director of the CDI.

Ryan started in post as President Elect in April 2025, before becoming President in December 2025 following a handover from Pete Robertson. Ryan has chaired Board meetings and supported me as Chief Executive throughout 2026 and I and the Board are very sorry to see him stand down.

On making this decision, Ryan says: “This is a really exciting time for the CDI. Very soon the organisation will begin the process of recruiting a new Chief Executive and the President Elect role is also due to be advertised. To support a smooth and sustained transition, I have taken the decision to stand down as President. This means that the CDI can move to secure a new President and a new Chief Executive in time for both to be in post and have a significant handover period with David.

The Board appointments committee will continue to lead on the recruitment of the next Chief Executive, and the elections will be overseen in the usual way. It has been a real honour being President and I am very confident the organisation will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Interim Chair

CDI Board Director John Ambrose has kindly volunteered to act as Interim Chair until the next President is appointed, and the Board have confirmed that. I would like to thank John for taking on this role for the coming months and I will work with him and Kate Roberts, Honorary Secretary, to ensure a smooth handover.

Election for President

We planned to begin the election process for the next President Elect on 19th October, so this will now be amended to be for the full President role from appointment. Once the election is complete, the successful nominee will be confirmed at the AGM on 10th December and take on the post and Chair of the Board from that time.

Once the President election notice is posted, please do share it widely so that we get the best candidates for the role.

Despite this change, we continue to deliver for our members and the profession as normal.
The Board and I want to thank Ryan for his leadership since joining the CDI Board, and we wish him the best for his future plans.
