CDI announces Chief Executive to step down in April 2027

I hope you all managed to get some time off over the summer, to spend time with family and friends. Having a break can give you time to reflect on where you are in your career and what you would like to do next.
Our CDI Chief Executive, David Morgan, has done just that and has decided to step down from the role at the end of April 2027, after what will be six years in the post. David feels that the time is right for him as he looks to move away from full-time work. He also recognises that the CDI is in a strong position for an incoming Chief Executive to further grow the organisation to deliver for members and the profession.
This is not a decision that David has taken lightly and, reluctantly, I have accepted his resignation. David has very kindly given us an extended notice period to lead the organisation while we recruit and hand over to a new Chief Executive.
During his time as CEO, David has made a tremendous impact and has significantly evolved the CDI. I know he has really enjoyed the experience and has been proud to support the profession to achieve so much over that period. With David staying on until April and with the great team we have in place, we will continue to deliver the 2030 strategy, effectively support members and champion the profession through this change.
I am working with the Board Appointments Committee on the recruitment process, and we aim to get the role advertised before the end of this month. After sharing the news with the Board and team, I wanted to let you know as soon as possible. When the vacancy is live, I hope you will help us share it widely to reach the best pool of candidates.
I look forward to working with David, the team and my Board colleagues to successfully secure our next Chief Executive, ensure we have a smooth handover and continue evolving the CDI to achieve our strategic goals.
