A fifth of graduates use AI tools for ‘careers advice’

The Early Careers Survey 2025 captured data from over 4,000 students and graduates about their career activities. It found that AI was changing their career activities and choices, including 10% who had changed their career plans due to AI.

It found that nearly a fifth of respondents had used AI tools such as ChatGPT for careers advice, with 84% rating them as helpful or very helpful. 39% had used AI to edit CVs or cover letters and 30% used it to write them from scratch.

More broadly, the survey found their biggest challenges were keeping motivated, balancing commitments and money.
