‘Made in EU’ proposals to drive jobs and business growth

The European Commission has proposed the Industrial Accelerator Act to boost manufacturing, grow businesses and create jobs.

The aim is to leverage the strength of the single market to support ‘Made in EU’ and low carbon products, ensure that foreign investment tangibly benefits the EU, make permits simpler and give a boost to sustainable manufacturing.

The Act will introduce new requirements for public procurement and support schemes to strengthen European production, with rules applying to key strategic sectors. The rules have a focus on manufacturing, aiming to grow it from 14.3% of EU GDP in 2024 to 20% by 2035.

While the rules reinforce the open market within the EU, conditions will apply to foreign investment to ensure it is beneficial to the EU.
