CDI Scotland manifesto 2026

Manifesto for Scotland 2026

In the lead-up to the elections in Scotland in May 2026, CDI Scotland Associate Pete Robertson has canvassed member opinion to create a career development manifesto for all the parties to consider.

The manifesto shares recommendations to ensure that the people of Scotland can achieve the good career they deserve and covers four areas; investment in career education and guidance, a commitment to lifelong guidance, reaffirm the commitment to a national careers service and funding fairly and sustainably across the education system.

The manifesto was created following member webinars and feedback. It is party-neutral and members are encouraged to share it with their local candidates.

CPD and Members' Meetings

Drawing on feedback from members we have grouped training needs for Scottish members into four main areas, including the impact of COVID-19 cutting across the themes:

  • Professional issues in the Scottish context
  • Labour market knowledge
  • Equality issues (including the needs of specific client groups)
  • Guidance and counselling skills

Free webinars and a monthly CPD newsletter are part of your membership benefits package. To book your place and receive the joining link simply book on the Training and Events pages.

Scottish members will also have an opportunity to meet online on a quarterly basis.  These will be twilight meetings.  The format for these meetings will typically include a guest speaker, discussion, and a CDI update. Prospective members are encouraged to attend a meeting.

As always, we welcome suggestions for new webinars from individual and organisational members and are working on new webinars for the coming period.  #

Facebook and LinkedIn groups

CDI Scotland hosts a Facebook community - Career Development in Scotland - which is open to Scottish based practitioners whether they are members or not. This is a moderated forum for discussion. There is also a CDI Scotland LinkedIn group, exclusive to Scottish members.

Promoting the sector in Scotland

The CDI seeks to maintain a dialogue with key policymakers in Scotland with a view to promote the career development sector, influence policy decisions and advocate for the interests of its members.
