Student Finance Refresher for England and Wales

CPD Topic: Lifelong learning

Content Overview: This session will provide an overview for both Student Finance England and Student Finance Wales, covering student entitlement for core funding, such as Tuition Fee and Maintenance Loans. It will provide an overview of household income, including who makes up a household, what income is taken into account and how maintenance loans can be impacted by household income. The session will also look at additional funding available, such as the "entitled to benefits" rates, Grants for Dependants, Disabled Student Allowance and NHS funding. The session will also cover repayments, key messages and signposting for resources for Practitioners and Students.

Learning Outcomes: Following this session, you should have a better understanding of how student finance works. You will have knowledge of the core funding on offer from the two domiciles covered, as well as eligibility and entitlement for any additional support available from student finance. You will also gain visibility of a suite of resources available, to help you provide accurate information, advice and guidance to support your students with making informed decisions.
