Programme Structure
The programme is delivered online using Zoom, working with your trainer and other learners in real time. If there is sufficient demand it can also be delivered in person in major towns and cities across England.
The flexible training allows Careers Leaders to tailor the learning to their role and experience. The full programme can include up to 5 training days, with options for core, extension, and top-up routes:
- Core delivery – 3 days
- Extension module – 2 days
What you will learn;
The training helps Careers Leaders create and implement a strategic plan for delivering a careers programme aligned to the Gatsby Benchmarks. You will learn how to:
- Understand the Careers Leader role and how it differs from a Careers Adviser
- Apply key career development theories to your setting
- Confidently implement all Gatsby Benchmarks
- Use national frameworks (e.g. CDI, Skills Builder) to improve student outcomes
- Build a careers strategy aligned to whole-school/college priorities
- Set measurable learning outcomes for careers education
- Design meaningful employer encounters and workplace experiences
- Evaluate and improve your careers programme using impact data
- Report effectively to SLT and governors/trustees
- Plan CPD for staff involved in careers delivery
Assessment
Everyone will complete;
- A reflective log capturing key actions and insights
- A 1,000-word statement detailing the programme’s impact
- A short report completed by a senior school leader to outline the impact of the Careers Leader training
