CEC-funded Careers Leader training delivered by the CDI (5 days)

The Careers & Enterprise Company-funded training is only for Careers Leaders from state funded schools, colleges, special schools, PRU and Alternative Provision. It is available whether the Careers Leader is new to the role or has been in post for several years. Holders of a level 6 or above Careers Leader qualification are able to join the Register of Career Development Professionals as a Registered Careers Leader.

Purpose of the Careers Leader training

The Careers Leader training is designed to equip and enable Careers Leaders to prepare and implement a strategic plan for developing a careers programme in their organisation that meets the eight Gatsby Benchmarks.

Programme structure

The programme is delivered online using Zoom, working with your trainer and other learners in real time. If there is sufficient demand it can also be delivered in person in major towns and cities across England.

The five training days are split across seven months. Each day lasts from 9.30 am until 4.30 pm. We expect everyone to attend all five training days in order to meet the CEC attendance requirement. Cohort sizes are a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 which enables networking with cohort colleagues.

We offer a non-accredited route and an accredited route leading to the achievement of three OCR Level 6 units in Careers Leadership.

CDI Certificate in Careers Leadership

This level 6 work-based qualification is recommended training for those who are either new to the career leadership role or wish to develop within the role. It is ideal for anyone wishing to learn how to establish a careers strategy and implement a high-quality careers programme, and who doesn't qualify for the CEC-funded training.

Successful completion of the Certificate meets the qualification requirement to become a Registered Careers Leader on the Register of Career Development Professionals.

Training for the CDI Certificate in Careers Leadership is available from the CDI Academy
