Webinar series – CDI membership – beneficial to you, your clients, and your business?

10/09/2015 12:00 - 13:00

Aimed at career practitioners who are self-employed, run their own business or do careers work in organisations this webinar will provide an opportunity to connect with peers and hear about what the CDI has done since it began in April 2013, the UK Register of Career Development Professionals and the different routes to getting recognised; especially those available to people who do not hold one of the approved qualifications. You will also learn about the CDI Community of Interest for Independent Coaches and Consultants and how you can become involved.

Better presenting and public speaking

10/09/2015 09:30 - 16:00

For some people, speaking in public is their greatest fear. Even those who enjoy it often feel they could improve their skill. After all, for a careers practitioner, being able to stand in front of a sceptical crowd of students or parents and inspire and engage them may change the course of their lives. This highly participative workshop will explore how public speaking can shape hearts and minds and introduce you to techniques that will enable you to hold your audience's attention, while speaking with confidence and conviction. Delegate feedback from previous courses: "Excellent structure and content - I've certainly learned a great deal"; "Engaging, personable and informative - I can't wait to use my new skills."

'NICEC-CDI Professional Development Day' - Careers strands in Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce

15/09/2015 10:30 - 16:15

The CDI is delighted to be working with NICEC on this series of conferences which focus on linking research to practice. 'Careers strands in Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce' is our first NICEC/CDI event to be held in Scotland and both members and non-members are encouraged to attend. The Scottish Government has embarked on a major, seven-year Strategy to address the stubborn challenge of youth unemployment. Central to the successful implementation of the Strategy will be the work of career development professionals. This research-based conference will focus on five key career themes that underpin the Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce Strategy and will examine the lessons for practice from relevant research studies and development projects undertaken in recent years by NICEC Fellows and others, including Skills Development Scotland. Keynote speaker: Professor Anthony Finn, University of Glasgow.
