EDI Big Conversation 2023 - Intersectionality & aspects of diversity not covered elsewhere

As a key input to developing the CDI’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy, we are running a series of workshops covering key diversity themes. Each workshop will include a keynote talk then discussions among participants to draw out the key barriers and issues affecting each community, as well as generating ideas for how the CDI can work to address them.

Our last workshop focuses on the lived experience of, or experience working with clients with, intersections of identity – the different challenges and solutions required for those who experience barriers from having two of more diverse characteristics.

We will be discussing the experience of working with socioeconomically diverse clients and for those working in the profession with lived experience of the challenges that need to be addressed to create equity for clients and practitioners from all socioeconomic backgrounds.

The workshop will be hosted by Ifza Shakoor, EDI Associate at the CDI and David Morgan, Chief Executive of the CDI, along with the keynote speaker who is yet to be confirmed. The workshop is intended to be an open, participatory and engaging session to gain insight directly from people with lived experience.

The workshop is free and open to anyone working in career development – whether a CDI member or not.
