Delivering career guidance and coaching via telephone and video (Expert Training Online)

Wednesday 22nd July - 14.00 - 17.00
Thursday 3 September - 14.00 - 17.00

Aim: The workshop aims to build confidence and skills in the delivering career guidance and coaching via telephone and video.

This expert training online session is aimed at career practitioners who deliver or intend to deliver career guidance and coaching via the medium of telephone and video. The content focuses on in-depth guidance and coaching rather than tracking or cold calling.

During the session we will explore how the skills and methods of face-to-face work can be creatively applied to telephone and video, rapidly building rapport and using multi-sensory tactics to fully engage clients and address their career development needs.

The workshop will be led by Liane Hambly, Career Development Consultant. Liane uses these media in her own coaching practice and has delivered webinars and learning programmes on this topic throughout the UK and internationally.

Learning Outcomes

Key objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Translate existing skills to these media
  • Use deep listening to compensate for the loss of visual cues
  • Use multi-sensory questions and activities to fully engage the client and address their career development needs

Technical matters

We will be using Zoom which works best on a laptop rather than phone. You will need a camera and audio to participate.

People using iPads and Apple Macs may experience different layout than others, so please ensure you are familiar with the basics of Zoom (chat, raising hands, mute, sharing documents).

The workshop will be very interactive, so bring your brain, pen, paper and enthusiasm.

The plenary will be recorded but breakout groups and chat will not. If for any reason you are unhappy with this, please let us know in advance.

We appreciate that lockdown may make this difficult, but if you can please locate yourself in a quiet room.
