CDI presents "Great Debate: Career Education and Guidance in the time of Covid"

15 02.21

Politicians and Members of the House of Lords, from all political parties, will be taking part in an online debate: Career Education and Guidance in the time of Covid. Read our briefing paper here. This debate, taking place during National Careers Week, is in part a response to the Skills for Jobs white paper. While the white paper makes some welcome proposals to improve careers provision, we feel that it lacks ambition largely ignores the current crisis, and does not address the need for career support for people outside of compulsory education. Given the current crisis, there is a need to move forward quickly with the white paper’s proposals and build on them with an emergency plan to invest in career guidance.

Confirmed speakers include

  • Toby Perkins, Labour MP for Chesterfield and Shadow Minister (Education)
  • Lord Lucas, Conservative Excepted Hereditary peer
  • Barry Sheerman, Labour MP for Huddersfield
