Young people feel unprepared for working life

In a world of rapidly changing technological working environments and labour market structure, it is understandable that young people feel at a loss. Especially as the curriculum struggles to keep pace with providing a future-proof skillset. However, a survey undertaken by YouGov for the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) paints a particularly bleak picture. It has revealed that 49 per cent of young people between 17 and 23 years old believe that their education has not adequately prepared them for their life in work. This is despite the fact that more than half of respondents had done a work placement while at school and over a fifth had had business visits.
