Red Kite Learning blames ‘untenable’ payment by results for sudden closure

London-based education and employment charity, Red Kite Learning, shut on 31 July, after 25 years of operation, despite holding contracts worth in excess of £1.3m. Founder Brendan Tarring attributes its closure to the government’s move to large scale payment by results contracts in public employment programmes, which he believes to be untenable for medium sized charities.
