QCF Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development

OCR has now published new standards for the QCF Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (04664).  These replace the QCF Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development (10215).

What this means for you

Whichever version of the Level 6 Diploma you have done remains valid and allows you to join the CDI UK Register of Career Development Professionals. You do not have to update your qualification.

However, if you have some units of the Level 6 Diploma (10215) to fulfil, then you should consider completing these soon to achieve the full QCF Level 6 Diploma.

Complete your qualification

You can register for the 10215 standards up until the end of March 2022.  After this the CDI can only provide the QCF Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development using the new standards (04664).

You have until 31st December 2024 to complete your qualification using the 10215 standards.  This is the final date that OCR will issue certificates for this qualification.

What if I have some units with the 10215 standards and want to do more to gain the full diploma?

If you join our January or March 2022 courses you will be able to gain the full Level 6 Diploma under the 10215 standards.

If you want to continue after these dates your options are as follows:

  1. Your existing units (10215)are still valid and we can help you to map these against the new standards but you will have to provide additional evidence to cover any changes in content. This applies to all units (both L4 and L6 qualifications) where there are differences between the old version and the new version.  This will incur a small additional assessment cost but not as much as would be charged for assessment of a full unit.
  2. The alternative to the above if you have Units 21, 22 and 23 and want to do the new version of the mandatory units the CDI can endorse this combination as the equivalent of the full Level 6 Diploma. You would then be able to join the UK Register of Career Development Professionals and be qualified to provide personal career guidance. You would not get an OCR Cert for the full Diploma. Instead you would get unit certificates for the seven mandatory units.

This is the same approach as the CDI has now for those with a pre-2011 NVQ 4 in A&G or LDSS and who do Units 2, 3 and 6. We will continue to endorse this NVQ4 and these units for both 10215 and 04664units.
