The National Apprenticeship Service has launched a new film last week, highlighting how Higher Apprenticeships are benefiting companies in the legal sector.

The film features Top 50 national law firm Weightmans LLP which took on the first-ever legal services higher apprentice in the country in May 2013. It reveals how apprentices are making a valuable contribution to fee-earning activities while also helping other team members to develop new skills. The video aims to showcase how the Apprenticeships work in practice and to inspire more firms to offer them.

The Higher Apprenticeship in Legal Services is a new Apprenticeship framework that was introduced in 2013 to provide alternative entry routes for people wanting to pursue a career in law. The practice areas it covers include Commercial Litigation, Debt Recovery/Insolvency, and Personal Injury. Other firms that are already benefitting from the new Apprenticeships include Gordons LLP, which has already generated fees totaling more than £300k through its apprentices’ work.
