Innovation, Ethics and Practice, Social Media and Digital Skills

new virtual, two-day conference designed to enhance your skills and knowledge as we imagine new ways of working using digital technology

Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th March 2021

Our inaugural Tech Fest will bring leading experts and practitioners together to focus on digital practice and explore its potential to enhance and add value to the services we provide.  Interactive keynotes, panel sessions and workshops will be complemented by a virtual exhibition and product insight talks, featuring the latest digital career development products and services.

You will be able to chat live and ask questions during sessions, meet and interact virtually with other delegates and exhibitors by chat or optional video meetings. It’s a great chance to catch up with those you know and connect with others with a shared interest and passion for digital technology.

Key themes                                                                                   Booking is now open!

  • Innovation  - What new ideas, approaches and practices are people piloting that have links with the career development sector? From chatbot career advisers using artificial intelligence to virtual reality work experience visits for year 10 students, what are people experimenting with, what’s working and what’s on the horizon?
  • Ethics and practice - How can we ensure digital career development is safe, inclusive, secure and accessible? How can we encourage women and minorities to benefit from all that technology offers, and gain the skills needed for success in future learning and work?
  • Social media and digital skills and tools – What skills are needed to be confident practitioners in the new digital context?  How can we keep up with the new digital skills fast becoming essential for every career practitioner?

Who is the conference for and why should I attend?

The event is for everyone involved in career development and those tasked with supporting and working with them to explore and improve digital provision in their organisations. See short pre-conference video here.

  • Gain valuable insight from other experts and organisations who have been applying technology to deliver more effective career development support.
  • Hear about lessons learned so you can avoid pitfalls as you apply digital practices in your work.
  • Get up to speed with the latest initiatives and opportunities in a constantly evolving digital world.
  • Learn how to promote and foster digital inclusion, to counter the risk that digital services might exclude or disadvantage certain groups.
  • Get exclusive access to over 20 hours of session recordings and resources to review and revisit after the conference.
  • Shape the conference by proposing topics important to you in our unique Open Space Meet Up sessions, where you will meet other delegates in a virtual round table to present ideas, share challenges and experience, debate issues, and learn from each other.
  • Participate in a truly interactive and engaging online conference hosted on the Hopin platform, which was highly praised by recent delegates using it for the National Careers Leaders conference.
  • Take part in live video networking with fellow-delegates - get paired with another delegate for a 5 minute speed networking session.

The programme

Delegates will have the opportunity to attend for one or two days; plenary sessions will take place in the morning and workshops in the afternoon.

The exhibition and product insight sessions will run across both days from 11.00 to 1.15pm.

We will be launching the CDI Career Assured scheme and showcasing the products and services of providers who are actively working towards this new accreditation, recognising the very best in career development tools and products.

Recordings of sessions will be available to ticket holders for 30 days after the conference, enabling you to gain maximum value from the wealth of ideas and knowledge that will be shared during the event.
