Supporting UK refugees into work (Expert Training Online)

This two-hour e-workshop introduces best practice in supporting refugees at all skill levels with careers information, advice and guidance, with a focus on finding work that is relevant to their skills and experience.  It may be followed up in September with a webinar specifically about supporting refugee professionals.   

Transitions is a social enterprise, providing free bespoke services for refugee professionals and corporately responsible recruitment solutions for employers. They will present practical information, advice, case studies, a candidate who will make a short presentation, and answer questions.

About the Presenter

Sheila Heard holds a level 7 PGDip Careers Guidance from University of East London and has been practicing as a specialist careers guidance and employment adviser for refugee professionals in London for 20 years. She has developed and runs work placement and employment support initiatives to assist refugees back into their professional working lives, including accountants, architects, engineers, HR professionals, lawyers, scientists and statisticians. Sheila founded Transitions in 2010 as a specialist social enterprise in London to deliver services to good employers and to highly skilled refugees who have been offered a place of safety in the UK and have a right to contribute to the UK economy and society.
