Certificate for Career Coaches

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at those practitioners who provide one to one coaching for clients and use activities that lead to increased clarity, personal change and forward action.  It is not a ’coaching’ course, but rather, provides the career context for those already engaged in coaching activities.  The course will examine current thinking in career theory and how this might apply to your practice whilst also exploring the range of sources of career information and labour market intelligence that can be used to support clients.

The course will benefit -

  • Career Coaches who focus on the individual’s career concerns, with the coach eliciting and using feedback on the individual’s capabilities as part of a discussion of career options.
  • Performance coaches who offer coaching activities aimed at enhancing an individual’s performance in their current role at work.
  • Skills coaches who are generally focused on achieving a number of skill development objectives that are linked to the needs of the organisation.
  • Personal or life coaches who help individuals to explore what they want in life and how they might achieve their aspirations and fulfil their needs.
  • Business coaches who support individuals or group in an organisational context.
  • Executive coaches: who provide one to one performance coaching to improve individual and organisational performance

How is the course structured?

The course is offered as either face to face training or on-line.  Face to face training is two full days and on line sessions are delivered via zoom with your group and trainer in real time.  The training is a mix of presentation and activity based and will also look at how to evidence your learning for assessment.  You will receive a workbook to accompany the training and be provided with access to a bank of resources.  Your named assessor will support you throughout, helping you to plan your work and providing constructive feedback.

How is my work assessed?

There is no assessment of work for the non-accredited route.  For the accredited route, you will provide evidence of your work practice through observations, assignments, case studies, written accounts and providing work products. Evidence is uploaded to an e-portfolio.  Should your submitted work not meet the standard required, your assessor will guide you on what needs to be done before you re-submit.

For those wishing to follow the accredited route, support materials and two additional virtual sessions will be provided with a CDI assessor to support you in meeting the evidence requirements.  The units within this package are;

    • Unit 3 Career Guidance Theory (9 credits)
    • Unit 6 Use Career and Labour Market Information with clients (6 credits)
