This Certificate has been designed for those NVQ/SVQ Level 4 holders who hold an advice and guidance or LDSS award undertaken before 2011. These qualifications did not specifically cover careers guidance theory, the study and application of labour market intelligence, and theories of reflection

These elements correspond to three units in the QCF Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development : Unit 2 (Reflect on and improve professional practice), Unit 3 (Career guidance theory), and Unit 6 (Use career and labour market information).

 Whilst undertaking these units, CDI members will be able to join the UK Register of Career Development Professionals as a conditional registrant and then convert to full registration once these units have been completed successfully. This also applies to anyone undertaking these three units with another provider.

If you undertake these units with a different provider we can endorse these units as the CDI Certificate in Career Guidance Theory at a cost of £25 provided that you are a CDI member. Please contact claire.johnson@thecdi.net for further information. Download the CCGT application form

CDI Certificate in Career Guidance Theory delivered by the CDI

For each of the three units attendance at a live training day will be required. These taught days, delivered by an experienced career development professional, will cover the knowledge and skills that you will be expected to evidence in order to demonstrate your competence. Please see the brochure for further details. 

All candidates will receive a bespoke workbook for each of the units; the opportunity to attend specific CDI webinars; join a Community of Interest for CDI Certificate in Career Guidance Theory candidates and the chance to hear talks as part of their training days from national experts.

All candidates will be allocated an experienced Assessor who will explain the assessment arrangements, monitoring of progress and how to use OneFile to house the evidence. 

Appropriate workload, academic ability and commitment to study at level 6 are needed. You must be a member of the CDI to undertake this qualification.

This qualification is not suitable for those people holding the Level 4 (NVQ) Diploma in Advice and Guidance or the Level 4 Diploma in Careers Information and Advice.

Booking a place

To book a place on the three training days please see the CDI Academy section of:CDI Training and Events. Please book all three dates from within the same cohort if you intend to undertake the qualification. If you would like to simply attend the training day/s for your own CPD and not undertake the qualification, if space allows it may be possible for individuals to join the training days without pursuing the accreditation.
