Deciding to study and practise law is a big decision. Whether students ultimately want to practice as a solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive, with up to 6 years legal study and practical legal training, it’s a huge commitment. This webinar will cover:

  • Careers falling under the umbrella of law - solicitor, barrister, legal executive etc and what the different professions involve
  • The law degree route to legal practice
  • The non-law degree route legal practice and law conversion courses
  • Routes to qualification as a chartered legal executive via CILEx
  • Law apprenticeships which can be commenced post sixth form and provide a cost effective way of training and qualifying as either a paralegal, chartered legal executive or solicitor

Webinar presenter: Rachel Davis, Director of The LawyerPortal

Rachel completed a law degree at the University of Leeds and the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at Nottingham Law School. She then went on to train and qualify as a solicitor at Dentons, which is currently the largest law firm in the world. Following 6 years of private practice, where she specialised in environmental law, Rachel worked in legal education for almost 10 years as a lecturer on the LPC at BPP Law School.
