Skills Show 2016

CDI Web Advert - 920x300 - 72ppi

17-19 November at the NEC, Birmingham

The Skills Show is the free one-stop-shop for skills, jobs and training options across a huge variety of industries. Held at the NEC Birmingham between Thursday 17 and Saturday 19 November, the show inspires visitors with an exciting, interactive showcase of skills and careers. At the weekend the show is open to adults/parents and young people.

What’s on offer for students?

  • A broad selection of jobs, training and skills than any other event to suit all age groups and academic abilities, including apprenticeships up to degree level.
  • Hands-on activities to discover new interests, uncover hidden talents and identify ideal jobs.
  • Impartial careers advice from expert advisers, as well as insights from those in jobs about what skills will be required in the future.
  • Hundreds of employers, training providers and colleges from the Midlands and across the UK for students to interact with and boost their confidence.

Raise your students’ aspirations and boost your own knowledge

It’s never too early for students to look to the future, raise their aspirations and improve their employability. After visiting last year’s show, 68% of educators said they felt, “more able to advise young people on vocational and skills-based education and careers available to them”.

The CDI coordinates the show’s Staff Room, where teachers and career practitioners can attend careers seminars, build their knowledge of the jobs market, network with careers advisers and employers, and collect resources for the classroom.

Attending the show can help your school fulfil standards for CEIAG quality awards by:

  • Providing students with the up-to-date information they need to become career-ready as they transition to their next stage of education, training or the world of work.
  • Giving teachers the opportunity to network with employers and careers advisers, and discover school resources to assist their delivery of careers education.
