QCF Qualifications

QCF Level 4 Diploma in Career Information and Advice

 This qualification is of relevance to practitioners working in a role where they provide career information and advice but not career guidance.

If practitioners holding this qualification wish to progress to the UK Register of Career Development Professionals they then need to undertake a full QCF Level 6 or above qualification.

 

QCF Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development

This qualification is of relevance to practitioners whose role involves providing career guidance and development to clients.

 

CDI Level 6 Career Guidance Theory Certificate

Units: Reflect on and improve professional practice, Career guidance theory, and Use career and labour market information

This CDI qualification comprises the three units which those people who hold the NVQ Level 4 in Guidance/Advice and Guidance/LDSS take if they want to meet the qualification requirement for the UK Register of Career Development Professionals. Whilst undertaking the three units practitioners can have conditional entry to the UK Register of Career Development Professionals. The deadline for completing these units and joining the Register is the end of March 2018.

N.B. This does not apply to people who hold the QCF Level 4 (NVQ) Diploma in Advice and Guidance who would need to undertake a full QCF Level 6 or above qualification to meet the Register qualification requirement.

 

CDI Career Leadership Certificate

Units: Lead and manage career development work in an organisation; Continuously improve career development work in an organisation and Plan and design career-related learning programmes

This CDI qualification is aimed at people who manage career development work in a school or college. For those people who hold a full graduate or post graduate teaching qualification successful completion of this qualification meets the qualification requirement for the UK Register of Career Development Professionals.

QCF Level 4

Mandatory Units

  • Preparing to work in the career information, advice and guidance sector
  • Reflecting on practice and continuous professional development
  • Career choice theories and concepts to support clients
  • Meeting the career-related information needs of clients
  • Interview clients to determine their need for career information, advice and guidance

Optional Units

  • Explore and agree how to meet the career-related needs of clients
  • Assist clients to apply for learning, training and work
  • Assist clients to review the achievement of career-related actions
  • Evaluate service provision
  • Engage with support networks to help clients to meet their career-related needs
  • Provide ongoing support to clients
  • Plan and deliver career-related learning in groups
  • Obtain and organise career-related information to support clients
  • Prepare to deliver services to clients in an outreach setting
  • Promote career-related learning to clients
  • Refer clients to sources of specialist support to meet their needs
  • Source, evaluate and use labour market information with clients
  • Understand how to support specific client groups to overcome barriers to learning, training and work
  • Operate within networks to support the delivery of the service
  • Negotiate on behalf of clients
  • Use diagnostic and assessment tools with clients
  • Advocate on behalf of clients
  • Undertake research on behalf of the service

  • Explore and agree the career guidance and development needs of clients
  • Use career and labour market information with clients
  • Work with other agencies for the benefit of clients and the organisation

  • Advocate on behalf of clients
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate career-related learning in groups
  • Source, evaluate and use labour market information with clients
  • Undertake research on behalf of the service
  • Use diagnostic and assessment tools with clients
  • Understand how to support specific client groups to overcome barriers to learning, training and work
  • Provide ongoing support to clients
  • Promote career-related learning to clients
  • Prepare to deliver services to clients in an outreach setting
