Management and Leadership Training

Management courses developed specifically for the career development sector

One of our business plan objectives 2016-17 is to continue to contribute to the management and leadership development of members and offer you new opportunities to upskill. To achieve this we are continuing with our successful management programme which we launched in 2015. This compromises of six one-day courses.

This is a real first for our sector in recent years. All too often the training that is available for such key roles can be generic and requires the delegate to contextualise the training for the demands of their own sector.

Who should attend?

Aimed at intending, new and experienced supervisors and managers as well as those who have managerial responsibilities as part of their self-employed practice, we feel sure that these new opportunities will be of interest whether you are operating in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales.

You can choose whether you attend one, two or all six days at each level. If you attend all six days you will receive a CDI Diploma in Introductory Management Training. Individual days will be individually certificated.

Rachel Mallows, The Mallows Company and UK Career Development Award Winner in 2014 is presenting the Introductory Level programme.

Feedback from recent delegates

“The training has been very helpful to allow me to step back and have some time and space to consider my management style and ways to develop my skills with my team.  I have found it particularly insightful to look at both managing staff and managing managers.  As a Careers Adviser, I believe that I am self-aware, but this training has confirmed that there are always new opportunities to learn.  I have really enjoyed the self-assessment opportunities and exercises which have enhanced my reflection skills.  I always leave the sessions with new ideas, actions and ways to become more effective.” (Senior Careers Adviser with Health Education England)

“It was really useful to be able to undertake the complete course as it was so comprehensive.  Each part linked to the next and built to a deeper understanding.  We began using the techniques straight away, especially how to manage relationships with others.”

Each of the six components is being delivered in  London, between May 2016 and October 2016. All places should be booked through the CDI website and paid for in advance

£165 + VAT per day for members and £215 + VAT for non-members.
