Career Management Quality Alliance

A new quality group in the career development space

Four well-known interest groups have come together and have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, under the name of the Career Management Quality Alliance:

  • Assessment Services Ltd (in respect of the matrix Standard)
  • Careers England
  • The Career Development Institute
  • The Quality in Careers Consortium

The four parties share a commitment to work towards the improvement of quality assured career management services in England. We also commit to promote policies and practices which we believe will lead to universal improvements in career management services for young people and adults.

This shared commitment may lead to:

  • The issuing of joint public statements
  • Joint meetings
  • And other appropriate joint actions.

Initially the group, chaired by Virginia Isaac, has agreed to hold planned review meetings twice a year. From time to time, the group will also issue position statements and press releases.

Our first position statement, A careers strategy that works for everyone was published August 2 2017 and emailed to members and opinion formers with a press release, which focused on our call to the government to publish the much talked-about career strategy as soon as MPs return to Parliament in September.

A careers strategy that works for everyone is important because it sets out the 12 key elements we propose should be included in the careers strategy. Working together these elements will support the UK economy to remain competitive and grow in a global market. For the economic and social health of the nation and the well-being of its citizens, the government needs to act now to provide lifelong access to quality assured support to develop individuals' career management skills and career guidance.
