1. The Programme

The big picture: Day 1 of the conference will include the exhibition; two plenary sessions; the President's address (Virginia Isaac), one workshop; CDI's AGM and a conference dinner.

Day 2 will comprise two workshops; two plenary sessions and an opportunity to welcome and hear from our incoming President (Laura Bell).

2. Call for Workshops

Our professional workshops programme is a distinguishing aspect of our annual conference. Over the the two days, delegates will have access to a choice of 32 workshops spread across four timetabled workshop sessions.

If you are an expert in your field and would like to present a workshop(s), which must align with one of the conference themes, please read Call For Workshops 2017 and submit your application(s) on this Workshop Proposal Form 2017. 3. The venue

The St Johns Hotel, Warwick Road, Solihull, West Midlands, B91 1AT

A leafy location, just 10 minutes from the centre of Birmingham and 7 minutes walk from the railway station (with direct services from London Marylebone), the St Johns offers excellent conference facilities, ample free parking and four star accommodation. The on-site leisure club has a gym; indoor pool; sauna; steam room; spa bath and solarium. The hotel is 4 miles from Birmingham International Airport.

4. Prices and booking

The conference package comprise several options:

  • Two day conference fee (including refreshments and lunches) - standard rate from August 1st to November 30 (to be paid by December 1st)
  • Conference dinner - James Bond Casino Royale theme
  • Day delegate fee  Day 1 and Day 2 (including refreshments and lunch) 

Standard rates (from August 1st)

Conference fee (members) - £175.00 + VAT
Conference fee (student members) - £125.00 + VAT
Conference fee (non-members) - £275 + VAT
Conference fee Member on Council/PSC and Workshop Presenters - £160 + VAT
Day delegate - £125 + VAT

We are holding rooms for the Sunday and Monday nights:

  • Sunday 3 December - B&B £85.00
  • Monday 4 December - B&B £109.00

This gives delegates maximum flexibility to choose to stay at the St Johns Hotel or another local hotel, eg The Premier Inn.

The closest Premier Inn is Solihull Town Centre, 68 Station Road, B91 3RX. This hotel is about 7 minutes' walk from the conference hotel (0.3 mile). In July the B&B rate was showing £65.99; without brekfast £57 or no flexibility or cancellation rate  £37.50.
